Photograph of USC trophy room running out of space, [s.d.]. Jess Hill, USC Director of Athletics is pictured in a small room overwhelmed by the many trophies USC has won over the years. "Needed: A place for USC's trophies -- USC Director of Athletics Jess Hill poses with a small fraction of the trophies which USC athletes have won through the years. Because of the crowded quarters presently serving the University's Depratment of Athletics, scores of the trophies stand on the tops of filing cabinets or must be relegated to out-of-the-way corners. But the trophy heritage -- USC has won more (44) NCAA championships alone than any other college or university in the nation -- will be properly and honorably displayed in the $1.5 million Herigate Hall USC proposes to build for the Department of Athletics. Of greater importance the building would provide offices for the Director of Athletics and his staff, the coaches of all major sports, and facilities for training, equipping and seeing to the medical needs of USC athletes.
