Photograph of University of Southern California football coach Jess Hill (right) yelling on the sidelines of a pre-game practice at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. There are 10-yard markers and players visible behind him. This is the USC vs. Texas Christian game, October 27, 1951.
Photograph of USC "maker of champions" track & field coach Dean Cromwell, taken June 1925. USC won the Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Athletes of America (IC4A) championship this year at Franklin Field, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on May 29 & 30. Cromwell is holding the Intercolleigate Trophy, and a smaller statue is on a table to his left that gives the dates of the championship. Cromwell is standing in front of Trojan Hall.
Photograph of USC freshman football player John Boyle (left) and freshman football coach Cliff Herd, 1919, both in football uniforms at Bovard Field on the USC campus. The photograph is attached to some brown paper with notes from Cliff Herd on both sides of the paper. Also attached to the piece of paper are part of a newspaper article about Cliff Herd, a letter and signature from George Bovard (then-USC president - could be a contract), and a colour cutout of a football player drawing from the 1910s. This might have been a page from a scrapbook. The text lists the 1919 freshman team and discusses Herd's arrangement with Harris Trust, his employer, so he could coach the football team in 1920.
