The private home to the rich and famous of Los Angeles in the early part of the 20th Century. Still guarded on West Adams Boulevard by its 120 year old gates. -- Postcard back, divided: Left side- rotated text reads "51014 Newman Post Card Co., Los Angeles, Cal., Made in Germany. IN SPACE BELOW MAY BE WRITTEN SENDER'S NAME AND ADDRESS (NO OTHER WRITING)". Vertical handwritten notation: "Dear Mrs. Spruele[?], I was pleased to receive your postal. Originally constructed for Oliver Posey, sold to Edward L. Doheny in 1901, after Carrie Estelle Doheny's death in 1958, became a part of Mount St. Mary's College. -- Divided back: "Paul C. Koeber Co., 85 Franklin St., New York City and Kirchheim. "Germany", a logo of "PCK", on the right side bottom "AS IS" ".50" written in pencil.
