Caption slip reads: "Photographer: Emery. Date: May 10, 1952. Reporter: Emery to Looman. Assignment: Bulldozers in quicksand, San Gabriel River bottom 3/4 miles north of 7th Street, Long Beach. 46, 47, 40, 41, 56, 57: Smaller of these two bulldozers, an 18-ton, $18,000 machine, was taken for a joyride by juveniles and ended stuck in river bottom mire. Larger bulldozer, 23-tonner worth $22,000, got stuck trying to extricate number 1. Men are from contracting firm of MacDonald and Kruse. Wife, daughter and son of one of the men came to see the plight of "daddy's tractor." Background in one shot, standing on river bank, is Los Angeles Sherriff Deputy Joe H. Welever, who turned in "malicious mischief" report to Norwalk substation".
