Assignment: Santa Monica tornado damage. #29-30-42: Four-year-old George Wilson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wilson of 1543 Third Street, Santa Monica, plays with bricks from fireplace and chimney, knocked to ground by miniature tornado that damaged an area a quarter of a block wide and one and a half blocks long. #36-41: Huge plate glass window in new car showroom at 209 Colorado Avenue, first was smashed by tornado, scattered over 1952 model automobiles. #81-82: Paul Johnson of 206-B Broadway, Santa Monica, inspects damage to his automobile, one of three in a brick and wood garage in the rear of 1532 Third Street, which collapsed during height of storm in a wind that cut a 2 or 3 (see story to come) block path. #27-28: Mrs. P.M. Goodfriend of 1532 3rd Street, Santa Monica looks over damage to Johnson car. #38-39: Owners and passersby inspect damage to 3 automobiles. #31: A 'tiwster' that hit two separate sections of Santa Monica early Sunday scattered four boats in a boatyard at Lincoln and Olympic Boulevards. The 40-foot fishing boat at right was swept 30 feet from its cradle into a quonset hut by the wind. Three smaller boats, (left background) also were damaged. One builder was slightly injured".
