Supplementary material reads: "From News Bureau, Pan American World Airways. Caption. Academy award nominee Sessue Hayakawa, the outstanding Japanese actor who played the Colonel in 'Bridge Over River Kwai', flew in from Japan on Pan American Airways Clipper this morning (2/26) to receive an award from the Foreign Press Association banquet at the Ambassador Hotel Wednesday night (2/27) as their choice for the 'best supporting actor' role. Following the event, Hayakawa will leave for New York via Chicago for an appearance on NBC's Kraft Theater on March 12. With the exception of a small movie role two years ago, this is Hayakawa's forst major role since appearing with Humphrey Bogart in 'Tokyo Joe' in 1949. When not making movies in the U.S., he is active in Japan's movie industry".
