Madison 9-4488. Inspect jet airliner: Donald W. Douglas, Senior, Chairman of the Board of Douglas Aircraft Company (left), and W.A. Patterson, president of United Air Lines, are pleased with the progress of the DC-8 as they inspect the engine pod of the aircraft at the Douglas plant in Long Beach. Following a board meeting of the airline here today (Thursday), Patterson and other members of United's board of directors visited the Douglas plant to inspect the new plane which the airline plans to put into service between Los Angeles and the East Coast next year".
