Pan American Airways. Mayor Bowron emplanes for Tokyo -- and round the world trip: Mayor Fletcher Bowron, probably the most-travelled "First Citizen" of Los Angeles is shown just prior to boarding the Pan American World Airways Stratoclipper which took him last night (Friday) from hoarth and fireside to a Mayor's Conference at Tokyo and the beginning of a 22,000 mile, globe-circling trip. Bidding him farewell is Mrs. Fletcher Bowron. The Mayor will visit fifteen world capitals during his forty-five day trip. A high point of his visit in Tokyo will be a combination helecopter-aircraft carrier jaunt to Korea as well as a quick 'hello' to members of the 40th Division -- Los Angeles' own now stationed in Japan itself. The Mayor will 'tell the world' about Los Angeles Harbor. In turn he will interview mayors and government leaders on a portable tape recorder and will fly the recordings, via Pan American Clipper back to Los Angeles for 'remote control appearances on his regular weekly radio and TV program. He is expected to return to Los Angeles December 11".
