Supplementary material reads: "Chest-Welfare Federation. Rhodes -- MI 8821. With plateholder. Picture -- Hospital and Clinic Committee members. Urges hospital construction -- Walter R. Hoefflin, Jr., right, told the Hospital and Clinic Committee of the Welfare Council of Metropolitan Los Angeles yesterday that State aid is necessary if this city is to build the new hospitals it needs. Shown with Hoefflin are Dr. H. C. Pulley, (left) Chief Assistant Health Officer of the City Health Department and J. Howard Ziemann, legal counsel for Queen of Angels Hospital where the committee met. Hoefflin said Los Angeles needs 10,000 more hospital beds to catch up with needs. He urged that California be asked to do as much as the Federal Government, which will pay one-third the cost of approved hospital construction". Edits: "Sister Raymond, who, with her staff at Queen of Angels Hospital, were hosts to the committee meeting".
