Supplementary material reads: "Gershon. City desk. Illus. -- Daily. Freak accident. If you see a police car ahead of you, it's alright to slow down -- but don't do it in front of a heavy tractor and trailer gasoline tank!. Lester Cahoon, 24, 1546 West 203rd Street, Torrance, learned this sadly yesterday at 1 a.m. He told traffic investigation officers in San Pedro that he was traveling south on Wilmington Blvd., when 'I saw a police car ahead of me and I slowed down' at Don Street. Behind him the big truck driven by Harry Lorenzen, 27, 1881 Britton Drive, Long Beach, crashed into the rear of Cahoon's light coupe, spun it around and hurled into a cement light standard which fell across the top of his car. Cahoon was thrown out and a passenger, John A. Black, 21, of Torrance, was slightly injured and was treated at Wilmington Emergency Hospital and sent to Seaside Hospital, Long Beach for overnight observation. Lorenzen was not hurt. No one was held".
