Supplementary material continues: "The winners: The Derrick Diary of Montebello Senior High and the Comet of San Fernando Junior High -- first place. The Colonial Gazette, Fairfax High, and Junior Hi-Ways, John Muir Junior High -- second place. The Belmont Sentinel, Belmont High, and the Californian, California High, Whittier -- honorable mention. In presenting the awards, Dr. Elliot A. Rouff, president of the TB Association, and Gerald P. Rosen, president-elect, lauded the school newspapers for their part in spreading information on the need to support the fight against tuberculosis. Topics of this year's contest were 'How to Defeat Tuberculosis in Los Angeles County' and 'Careers in Health'".
