Marfay Building, 5657 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, 1955

Photograph of the 5-story Marfay Building, 5657 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, purchased by Bernard B. Howard -- a Beverly Hills investor -- in 1955. Typed note attached to verso, dated 9 June 1955. The building is on Miracle Mile, (the north side of Wilshire Boulevard, basically on the northwest corner with Hauser Boulevard). It was built in 1949 by Welton Becket and Walter Wurdeman, who had their architectural offices at this location. The bottom floor had a variety of businesses over the years, including a famed jewelry store, Donavan and Seamans, etc.
