Chandler, 13060 Otsego Street, North Hollywood. Santa, reindeer and sleigh designed and cut out of plywood by Whately N. Chandler, an engineer. Figures painted by his wife Audre (cq). Similar holiday decorations have won first prize in the 'Christmas Theme' division of home decorating contest during the past two years for the Chandler family. Contest sponsored by the Van Nuys Chamber of Commerce. Couple has 2 children, Susan, 11, Whately, Jr., 4. Took couple three weekends to paint and mount props on roof. Props include four reindeer, sleigh with toys, Santa going down chimney headfirst. With aid of loudspeaker and record player, family 'broadcasts' carols nightly. Chandler says: 'It takes a lot of time and work but we enjoy it and get a big thrill out of it. 'This sight of it make people happy, they come in their cars every year to view the scene'."
