Supplementary material reads: "Letter-bottle. Monday or Tuesday. Dr. Leo L. Stanley, doctor on Matson Liner Matsonia, examines letter in bottle he threw overboard last year was retrieved by David Rivard, 15, now of Long Beach, but a U.S. Navy dependent on Midway Island when he picked up bottle there in July, 1959. Bottle drifted 1200 miles in four months".
